Loosened FDA Conflicts Rules May Cause Unwanted Side Effects
Will the FDA Safety and Innovation Act that was passed last year to reauthorize user fees paid by industry cause an unwanted side effect? The 2012 law loosened conflict-of-interest restrictions on agency advisory panels and a new analysis in the journal Science argues that the move could not only allow more drugs with troubling side effects to enter the marketplace, but was actually unnecessary.
